Directions on how to take
Swallow whole. Do not crush, break, chew, or place the medicine in water. If you have difficulty swallowing this medicine whole, the capsule may be opened and the contents sprinkled onto a spoonful of applesauce and taken as directed. Do not chew the food/medicine mixture. Swallow the mixture immediately. Follow each dose with a glass of cool water to ensure complete swallowing of the medicine. Take this medicine with food or milk.
Warnings and Precautions
Do not take this medicine if you are also taking a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (maoi), fenfluramine, dexfenfluramine, sibutramine, or tramadol. Additional monitoring of your dose or condition may be needed if you are taking cyproheptadine or lithium. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding.
Do not take this medicine if you have had an allergic reaction to it or are allergic to any ingredient in this product. This medicine is not recommended for use in children or adolescents under 18 years of age. It is important that all patients, including those under 18, consult their doctor before stopping this medicine. Do not stop taking this medicine without first checking with your doctor. Keep all doctor and laboratory appointments while you are taking this medicine.
Possible Side Effects
If you experience any of the following serious side effects, stop taking Effexor and contact your doctor immediately: allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives); seizures; or an irregular heartbeat or severely high blood pressure (blurred vision, headache). If symptoms persist, consult your doctor.
Storage
Store Effexor at room temperature (68F to 77F or 20C to 25C). Keep Effexor away from children.

Do not share this medicine with others for whom it was not prescribed. Do not use this medicine for other health conditions. Keep this medicine out of the reach of children.
